Mission Statement

The Kunstpalast is the art museum of the city of Düsseldorf.

A lively house of art offering a sense of identification to all Düsseldorf citizens, the museum seeks to inspire and encourage participation. Starting point of our work is the city’s status as a centre of art, as well as the museum’s broad scope spanning many epochs and genres, as manifest in the diversity and wealth of its collection and the incorporation of the Robert Schumann Saal. Our aim is to present art to a broad, international public. In doing so, we are committed to high scientific and scholarly standards and to the original tasks of a museum to collect, preserve and research. We are guided by a broad definition of art extending beyond the conventional canon. We respond to contemporary topical issues and provide impetus for new perspectives.
