Requirements of the BFSG and the BFSGV and compliance with them

According to Section 3 (1) of the Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG), certain services offered or provided by an economic operator must be barrier-free. Services are barrier-free if they can be found, accessed and used by people with disabilities in the usual way, without any particular difficulty and, in principle, without outside help. The specific accessibility requirements for services are based on the Ordinance on Accessibility Requirements for Products and Services under the Accessibility Improvement Act (BFSGV). The BFSGV contains specific requirements, particularly in § 12 and § 19. For example, the economic operator must provide information about how the service works in a certain way. Websites, including the associated online applications and services offered on mobile devices, must also be designed in a consistent and appropriate manner that is perceivable, operable, comprehensible and robust.

When designing our website, we comply with the EU standard EN 301 549 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 from 2023 with regard to accessibility. The WCAG differentiate the accessibility requirements into three levels (A, AA, AAA). The Stiftung Museum Kunstpalast strives to meet these requirements through sufficient color contrasts, navigation and the use of alternative texts, among other things. If you notice any content that is not barrier-free despite the legal obligation, please let us know using the following contact details:
