Reading: Verena Güntner reads from her book Medulla

In her artistic work, Niki de Saint Phalle explores women’s self-determination over their own lives and bodies. The author Verena Güntner also addresses this topic. Her book is about three women:
Siv does not want to become a mother, not even when she becomes pregnant unintentionally. Leyla always wanted to become a mother but, now that she is pregnant, has changed her mind. Esther decided to keep her child but then came to regret it. Three strong women feel they have lost control over their bodies as a result of their pregnancies, and are determined to reclaim that control without compromise. At the same time, the three men in their lives perceive this as a loss of control.
A fascinating book about modern relationships and the desire for female self-determination.
