Mao Fujita Klavier
Renaud Capuçon Violine
Kian Soltani Violoncello
Franz Schubert Klaviertrio Nr. 1 in B-Dur, D 898
Johannes Brahms Klaviertrio Nr. 1 in H-Dur op. 8
When asked when he started playing music, Mao Fujita gives the number one: “I started rhythm and ear training at the age of one and then started playing the piano at the age of three.”
Born and educated in Tokyo, Fujita caused a sensation in Europe, far away from home, when he won prizes at major competitions. He also caused a sensation when he performed all of Mozart’s solo sonatas at the Verbier Festival in 2021 and then recorded the works in the studio: A young pianist makes his debut on a new label with Mozart sonatas! That hasn’t happened for a long time.
As a child, he wanted to become a cab driver “because cab doors open automatically in Japan”. Today, Fujita lives in Berlin. The self-confessed lover of Giuseppe Arcimboldo’s paintings – “His art has the power to lure the viewer into a labyrinth” – also appreciates chamber music. In Verbier, he performed Beethoven’s complete violin sonatas with Marc Bouchkov. All the greater the anticipation when Mao Fujita forms a top-class trio at the piano festival with Renaud Capucon on the violin and cellist Kian Soltani to play works by Franz Schubert and Johannes Brahms.
