In this workshop, we will create our own watercolour painting of mountain landscapes. Rough peaks, tranquil valleys and natural light invite you to capture this beautiful landscape
with quick sketches. The best part: watercolours, a brush and a sketchbook fit in any backpack! We will practice the best techniques so that you will be able to document your next hiking trip with expressive, personal artworks.

Nima Dibazar is an architect and watercolour painter who has been recording his own memories of people, places and travels in his sketchbooks. He will introduce you to painting with watercolours and show you how to work free and loose with them.

This workshop is aimed at students and recent graduates working across disciplines—for example, between choreography and dance, visual arts, performance, applied arts, or music. The goal is to provide tools for artists to contextualize and position themselves within the larger field of contemporary art.
During the workshop, we will begin by exploring the key elements and various uses of a written artist statement and a visual portfolio. We will examine case studies and collaborate on refining participants’ own artist statements and portfolios.

Participants are expected to have an existing artist statement and a visual portfolio (such as a website) that they would like to develop further. You can bring your own laptop.


The workshop is led by Riikka Thitz, a Helsinki-based curator working at the intersection of performing and visual arts. Her practice investigates how performance and exhibition formats shape the forms, temporalities, and spaces in which art is presented. She is particularly interested in the frictions and dialogues that emerge when different artforms meet—architecturally, conceptually, and experientially. Grounded in site-responsive approaches, Riikka’s work emphasizes bodily experience, multisensory engagement, and the materiality of art. She incorporates dramaturgy as a tool to navigate and articulate the complex interdependencies between artworks, spaces, and audiences.
Since 2021, Riikka has worked as the part-time curator of the Stage for Contemporary Performance programme in the Helsinki City Theatre. She also co-runs the Helsinki-based multidisciplinary arts association i dolci. Riikka holds an MFA in Exhibition Studies from the Academy of Fine Arts, Helsinki, and an MA in Euroculture from Rijksuniversiteit Groningen and Georg-August-Universität Göttingen. She has previously held roles in production, communications, and programme management, both in freelance contexts and at institutions such as the Moving in November contemporary dance festival and Kiasma Theatre in Helsinki, as well as the Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux in Brussels.

In connection with the exhibitions “Women Artists! From Monjé to Münter” at the Kunstpalast Düsseldorf and “Crossing Borders” at the ATENEUM Helsinki, this workshop is organised in cooperation with the Finnland-Institute.

In dieser Ausgabe kramen wir die besten Weihnachtshits aus der Zeit heraus, von Mariah Carey über NSYNC bis zum Song aus der Coca-Cola-Werbung. Damit die Stimme beim Trällern nicht kratzig wird, gibt es einen Glühwein und Kinderpunsch.
Dabei basteln wir Sterne und Baumschmuck aus verschiedenen Materialien und drucken Geschenkpapier. Vergesst nicht euren Ugly Christmas Sweater, um die Saison zu eröffnen!

So viel buntes Glas! In unserer Glassammlung kann man spannende Objekte in allen Farben und Formen entdecken. Habt Ihr Lust, Euer eigenes Glaskunstwerk zu gestalten? In unserem Workshop könnt Ihr mit Stiften und farbenfrohen Perlen an die Arbeit gehen! Wir freuen uns, wenn Ihr eigenes Geschirr zum Bemalen mitbringt – aus Alt mach Neu!

Was ist das Faszinierende an Autos? Welche Erinnerungen, welche Erwartungen verknüpfen sich mit ihnen? Ist es das Versprechen von Freiheit, Geschwindigkeit und Mobilität oder die Begeisterung für Technik und Innovation? Wir gehen diesen Fragen zeichnerisch nach. Proportionen, Linien und Materialien sind wichtige Details. Sie lassen wenig Spielraum und fordern mehr Präzision beim Abzeichnen. Freiraum bietet dann die Erfindung des eigenen Traumautos.

What is art? Where does it begin – with a thought, a brushstroke or an everyday situation? When does something become a work of art – on the museum wall, in the catalogue or in the mind of the viewer? And who decides what art is? What constitutes an artist? These are questions that the artist Hans-Peter Feldmann grappled with. He photographed everyday life, worked with familiar objects, made small picture booklets and collected ordinary objects, which he turned into a shadow play through movement and lighting. This course is all about his works and techniques – let’s get inspired by the artist’s ideas and works, paint, photograph, create sculptures from everyday objects and our own shadow theatre. At the end, we will present our works in a small exhibition. We look forward to seeing you!

In this creative holiday workshop for children between the ages of 6 and 12, we will explore selected works from the exhibition “Women Artists! From Monjé to Münter” and get ideas for our creative work. Just like the artists of the past, we will experiment with techniques such as drawing, painting, printing, photography, collage and handicrafts. Full of fun and excitement, the works and their creation process might surprise you! At the end, we will show our parents our own works in a small exhibition.

Please bring:
– Lunch snack and drinks
– Favourite toy (max. 30cm high)

Get creative once a month in our ‘workshop’, and to try out the same materials and techniques that the women artists used as well. Like them, you will be able to create still lives or process an experience through a collage. Just come by after the exhibition visit and try it out. You can either take your artworks home or swap them out for something else home in our swap shelf. We are looking forward to seeing you!

Once a month, you can work with the materials and techniques that Hans-Peter Feldmann used and come up with new combinations in the ‘workshop’. For him, art was a part of life, like sleeping, eating and sport, so he used every conceivable everyday object and material for his works.
Whether you work on images of people, landscapes or slices of bread, paint objects, design booklets or cut out figures, fun is guaranteed here.
