We draw on this diversity in our series of workshops for adults, taking inspiration from the exhibition. Once a month, we focus on a particular artistic technique or motif and get creative ourselves.

In May, the focus will be on the theme of figure in space. Depicting the human body in the context of its surroundings opens up exciting perspectives and compositional possibilities. In the workshop, we will experiment with lines, volume and spatial effects.

In April, the focus is on portraits. Whether commissioned or a token of friendship, portraits have been an expression of personality and identity for centuries.
We explore gaze, expression and proportions and create our own versions.

LAMY x Kunstpalast and the Düsseldorf-based magazine THE DORF invite you to take part in a participatory workshop that explores collective creation as a form of visual dialogue. The starting point is THE DORF’s ten-year magazine archive, alongside posters from Kunstpalast, which serve as a shared visual and conceptual resource for participants.

During the workshop, large-format posters are created, combining handwritten elements with collage-like fragments. As the process unfolds, participants exchange their works, allowing others to add to, overwrite, and further develop them. In this way, multilayered visual compositions emerge, where different styles of handwriting and messages intersect and interact.
In the final display, the individual posters come together to form a collective wall piece. What becomes visible is not only the outcome, but also the dynamic of a collaborative creative process: a visual conversation that reflects both individuality and community.

Today’s LAMY creative session at the Palast Studio in Kunstpalast is led by Natalya Matyashek. Based in Düsseldorf, she has worked for many years at the intersection of collage, narration, and material research. For this workshop, she focuses on open, process-oriented formats that bring together creative expression, personal mark-making, and collaborative practice.

How does a two-dimensional idea become a three-dimensional object? The workshop covers everything from drawing and materials to initial models. Together, we will explore ways of creatively combining form, surface, and space.
