Environ 70 œuvres issues de la collection Kemp et des fonds du Kunstpalast abordent ce thème et le développent en mettant toujours l’accent sur l’interaction entre la nature, l’art et la science. Das Thema der Ausstellung widmet sich den Grundbausteinen der Natur und erweitert die klassische Theorie der vier Elemente – Erde, Feuer, Wasser und Luft – um eine übergeordnete Dimension: das fünfte Element. Rund 70 Werke aus der Sammlung Kemp und dem Bestand des Kunstpalasts greifen dieses Themenfeld auf und entwickeln es weiter immer mit dem Fokus auf der Wechselwirkung zwischen Natur, Kunst und Wissenschaft. In this guided tour, we invite you to experience the history of scent through your sense of smell: embark on a sensory journey through our collection rooms and discover a wide variety of scents from over a thousand years of art and cultural history at 27 scent stations and rooms.

There have always been women artists, but many of them have been forgotten. The exhibition presents 31 selected female artists who were active in Düsseldorf between 1819 and 1919. During this period women not admitted to the art academy. Nevertheless, some of them achieved prominence and fame during their lifetimes. Discover an important chapter of art history that has been overlooked for far too long on this guided tour and learn more about the stories and artworks of selected female artists.
In this guided tour for blind or visually impaired people, we take you on a journey through the exhibition with exciting stories and tactile experiences of selected objects.

Are you artists? In this exhibition you will see only artworks made by women. They lived and worked between 1819 and 1919. But this was rather difficult in that time: Women were not allowed to attend the Düsseldorf Art Academy. Just imagine not being able to follow your favourite profession. What would you do to follow your dreams? Together we will explore what moved the female artists and get to know them better.
