Let’s paint away with courage! Pre-existing pictures serve as a starting point for our artistic experiments. We work on posters and prints with brushes and paint to transform them into new artworks. In doing so, we explore creative interpretations and forms of expression. This is an open space that invites you to spend an inspiring afternoon here.

Patricio Alvarez Aragon is conducting the workshop. He is also an art historian, researcher, curator and artist.

Beginner or advanced: This workshop is suited for all levels. Everyone is welcome to join!

Fast strokes or precise lines – we look for interesting perspectives, room views, and compositions, we draw our observations. This dynamic Workshop invites you to get creative in the special atmosphere, train your eye, and explore the Kunstpalast with pencil and paper.

The workshop offers a practical, experimental and open-ended approach to drawing, welcoming both participants with and without artistic experience – everyone is welcome to join!

This workshop will be held by Patricio Alvarez Aragon. He is an art historian, researcher, curator, and artist.

Über vier Tage entwickeln wir eigene Charaktere und eine kurze Geschichte und setzen diese anschließend Schritt für Schritt als Storyboard und Manga-/Comicsequenz um. Dabei steht nicht die perfekte Zeichentechnik im Vordergrund, sondern das visuelle Erzählen, die Entwicklung eigener Figuren und Bildwelten sowie der individuelle kreative Ausdruck.

In this holiday course, we’ll be exploring the colourful works of the artist Niki de Saint Phalle. She was a famous artist. She created her art to reflect her vision of an ideal world. Inspired by Niki’s dream worlds and fantastical creatures, we’ll design and sculpt our own imaginary figures and make up stories about them. We’ll then present our work to our families at a final presentation. We look forward to seeing you and hearing your ideas.

In this holiday course, we’ll be exploring the artworks of Niki de Saint Phalle. She was a famous artist. Many of her works are colourful and depict dreamworlds. She also liked experimenting with new materials and created collages from old and everyday objects. She even fired a gun at some of her paintings, causing paint to run across the picture. Inspired by Niki’s artworks and her love of trying new things, we’ll experiment together with materials, shapes and colour. Using everyday and old objects, we’ll create artworks and collages, which we’ll finish off in a bright and colourful style. We’ll then present our work to our families at a final presentation. We look forward to seeing you and hearing your ideas.

Together, we will explore the work of Düsseldorf artist Jörg Immendorff, whose paintings, actions and symbols encouraged people to reflect on society and the world around them.
After visiting the exhibition, participants will develop their own ideas: What matters to us today? What would we like to stand up for? Inspired by Immendorff’s art, we will create imaginative protest signs using self-designed symbols and slogans.
On the second day, these designs will be transferred onto ceramic plates or mugs, inspired by Immendorff’s artist-designed tableware. The result will be unique everyday artworks that show how art can express ideas, inspire change and make a statement.

Green hills or the blue ocean – We will capture a landscape with brush and paint. Inspired by nature, we are trying our hand at watercolour painting. With a few brush strokes, the first composition ideas take shape. Immerse yourself in the painting process and leave everyday life behind. Our guide and artist Nima Dibazar can offer you tips and tricks to support your artistic journey.

Whether beginner or advanced – everyone is welcome to join!

Artist-quality materials are provided. You can bring your own sketchbook if wanted.

Everyone is invited to get creative and make their own mosaic piece using reflective and silver-coloured materials. Together, all the individual pieces will gradually form one large collaborative artwork on the wall of Studio Niki.
French-American artist Niki de Saint Phalle often worked with others and invited people to become part of the creative process. Studio Niki follows in this spirit: throughout the exhibition Niki de Saint Phalle. Dream Machine , our shared mosaic will keep growing as more and more pieces are added on the second floor, in the Kunstpalast’s ERGO Foyer.
