In this workshop, we will create our own watercolour painting of mountain landscapes. Rough peaks, tranquil valleys and natural light invite you to capture this beautiful landscape
with quick sketches. The best part: watercolours, a brush and a sketchbook fit in any backpack! We will practice the best techniques so that you will be able to document your next hiking trip with expressive, personal artworks.

Nima Dibazar is an architect and watercolour painter who has been recording his own memories of people, places and travels in his sketchbooks. He will introduce you to painting with watercolours and show you how to work free and loose with them.

The language of the workshop is English.

This workshop is aimed at students and recent graduates working across disciplines—for example, between choreography and dance, visual arts, performance, applied arts, or music. The goal is to provide tools for artists to contextualize and position themselves within the larger field of contemporary art.
During the workshop, we will begin by exploring the key elements and various uses of a written artist statement and a visual portfolio. We will examine case studies and collaborate on refining participants’ own artist statements and portfolios.

Participants are expected to have an existing artist statement and a visual portfolio (such as a website) that they would like to develop further. You can bring your own laptop.


The workshop is led by Riikka Thitz, a Helsinki-based curator working at the intersection of performing and visual arts. Her practice investigates how performance and exhibition formats shape the forms, temporalities, and spaces in which art is presented. She is particularly interested in the frictions and dialogues that emerge when different artforms meet—architecturally, conceptually, and experientially. Grounded in site-responsive approaches, Riikka’s work emphasizes bodily experience, multisensory engagement, and the materiality of art. She incorporates dramaturgy as a tool to navigate and articulate the complex interdependencies between artworks, spaces, and audiences.
Since 2021, Riikka has worked as the part-time curator of the Stage for Contemporary Performance programme in the Helsinki City Theatre. She also co-runs the Helsinki-based multidisciplinary arts association i dolci. Riikka holds an MFA in Exhibition Studies from the Academy of Fine Arts, Helsinki, and an MA in Euroculture from Rijksuniversiteit Groningen and Georg-August-Universität Göttingen. She has previously held roles in production, communications, and programme management, both in freelance contexts and at institutions such as the Moving in November contemporary dance festival and Kiasma Theatre in Helsinki, as well as the Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux in Brussels.

In connection with the exhibitions “Women Artists! From Monjé to Münter” at the Kunstpalast Düsseldorf and “Crossing Borders” at the ATENEUM Helsinki, this workshop is organised in cooperation with the Finnland-Institute.

In dieser Ausgabe kramen wir die besten Weihnachtshits aus der Zeit heraus, von Mariah Carey über NSYNC bis zum Song aus der Coca-Cola-Werbung. Damit die Stimme beim Trällern nicht kratzig wird, gibt es einen Glühwein und Kinderpunsch.
Dabei basteln wir Sterne und Baumschmuck aus verschiedenen Materialien und drucken Geschenkpapier. Vergesst nicht euren Ugly Christmas Sweater, um die Saison zu eröffnen!

The most precious moments of our summer holiday stay with us for a lifetime. Photos are a wonderful memento – but how about capturing the atmosphere, colours and emotions of your last destination with a brush and paint?
In this special workshop we will work on our own atmospheric watercolours painting of a typical coastal landscape. As the soft blue of the ocean and the warm light of the sun come to life on the paper, you will have the opportunity to capture your personal holiday memories and thoughts – in your own creative way.

Bei dieser Ausgabe kreieren wir bunte Batik-Muster. Zum Einfärben erhaltet ihr einen Jutebeutel pro Person. Bitte bringt noch weitere weiße Stoffe oder Kleidung mit, zum Beispiel Geschirrtücher, Kissenhüllen, Taschen, Shirts oder Shorts.

Wir gestalten einzigartige, fantasievolle Scherenschnitte aus Papier – von feinen Blumenmustern bis hin zu geometrischen Formen. Der Scherenschnitt ist ein kunsthandwerkliches Verfahren, das ursprünglich aus China und Persien kommt und ab dem 17. Jahrhundert auch in Europa zu finden ist.

Family, parents, children – we all associate different emotions and different things with these terms and concepts. In this workshop, we want to take a closer look at them artistically with pen and paper. Together with author and illustrator Sina Arlt, we will capture our thoughts and feelings in short stories and comics. We look forward to seeing you!

Mit Pinsel, Rakel und Druckverfahren nähern wir uns in dieser Workshopreihe verschiedenen Techniken der Malerei und gestalten eigene Arbeiten.

Der Künstler und Galerist Konrad Lueg kombinierte Drucktechniken und Acrylmalerei. Wir gehen dieser Mischtechnik auf die Spur und gestalten eigene Bilder mit unterschiedlichen Verfahren.
