Studio Niki
Many of the works by the French-American artist Niki de Saint Phalle were created through collaboration with others. We’re building on this tradition here at Studio Niki: during the exhibition ‘Niki de Saint Phalle: Dream Machine’, our mosaic wall is taking shape on the second floor in the ERGO Foyer of the Kunstpalast, made up of many individual pieces.

Collaborative work plays an important role in Niki de Saint Phalle’s
body of work. This is also evident in her
life’s work, the Tarot Garden. This grew over
many years thanks to the help of numerous volunteers. The
mosaic work with which she clad many of her sculptures
was also a collaborative process.
This room takes up this principle. All visitors are
invited to create their own mosaic piece and attach it to the
wall. The room changes with every
new contribution.

Hands-on activity packs
Düsseldorf’s municipal libraries and the Kunstpalast have put together hands-on activity packs. You can collect the packs from your local library and get creative at home.
Please hand in your finished mosaic pieces here:
KAP1, at the information desk – Konrad-Adenauer-Platz 1, 40210 Düsseldorf.
Or drop them off directly at Studio Niki in the Kunstpalast, on the 2nd floor in the ERGO foyer.
In the craft bag you’ll find:
- Thick paper as a base
Various adhesive mosaic tiles
Metallic foil
